Do I Need Anything to Connect My Own Laptop?
The majority of event spaces support laptop connectivity to the projector via VGA cable, while newer rooms also come equipped with HDMI connectivity. If you're not sure what port is on your laptop, please consult the infographic below.

If you do not have the necessary VGA or HDMI port, please visit the Media Center's Laptop/Tablet Display Adapters page to find out what adapter you need to connect your device.

 Available Laptop Cables

Canisius College has continued to upgrade our venues for hosting events on-campus. The Media Center is here to set up and troubleshoot presentation technology in several of these spaces. Whether your needs are for a LCD projector/DVD player set-up for 10 people in a conference room, or a PowerPoint presentation and panel discussion for an audience of 200 in the Regis Room, our technicians will do everything they can to accommodate your technology needs.

While the resources and services for these rooms may be supported by the Media Center, scheduling and reservations go through the Office of Event Services (ext. 2180).

Media Center Event Laptops

Reserving a Laptop
Three laptops are available for use by faculty & staff for their events. Simply request a Media Center Event Laptop along with the rest of your media (LCD projector, screen, etc.) when scheduling your event with the Office of Event Services (ext. 2180).

Accessing Your Files
It is recommended that you bring your files on a USB thumb drive or access them via the internet (e-mail, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). Click
here for instructions for accessing your file if it's save to your Canisius Network Storage (H: drive).

Availability
Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis.

The laptops are available for use Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM. However, arrangements for use during evening and weekend events can be arranged with the Media Center.

Videotaping Services

Looking to have your event videotaped? The Media Center provides personnel and equipment for the videotaping of on campus events. In order to ensure that personnel and equipment are available, requests for taping should be made no later than forty-eight hours in advance of the requested time. The Media Center cannot guarantee service without sufficient notice.

Permission must be granted by the guest speaker to be taped. Contact Dan Drew (ext. 2569) to obtain a release form for the speaker to sign, as well as to discuss any other needs for the recording of your event (multiple camera setup, editing, DVD authoring, cost of service, etc.). The release form can also be downloaded by clicking here  (PDF).

In addition to making arrangements with the Media Center, the Office of Event Services (ext. 2180) needs to be informed of the request as well. Either notify them while scheduling your event or contact them after you have consulted with the
