D2L: Roles & What they do

A brief overview of the roles available in D2L and what permissions they have.

RoleDescription
InstructorA user with the Instructor Role has complete access and control to/of the course. This user can add, edit, or remove course content/activities, view, and grade student work, set Start, End, and Due Dates for content, etc.
Instructor - HiddenThe Instructor role, but not visible to students in the Classlist. Is visible to the Instructor by clicking on the All tab in the Classlist.
TAThe Instructor Role with the title changed to make it easier for students to differentiate the Instructor from the TA.
StaffThe Instructor Role, but renamed to make it easier for students to differentiate the Instructor from a Staff member.
StudentA user with the Student Role can view and interact with course content/activities and submit assignments in the Dropbox, Quiz, or Discussion tools. 
Student - Incomplete

The Student Role, but is able to ignore the D2L Course Start and End Dates, allowing them to complete work after a course has officially closed.

Note: A Student with this role is not able to bypass Start, End, and Due dates on course activities. The Instructor must provide special access to the student or manually update the dates as needed.

GuestThe Student Role, but does not have access to the grade tool. Useful for getting outside speakers or users to see the course and/or respond in Discussion Posts to students directly.
