Add Your Pronouns

You may want to add your pronouns in D2L. Here's how:

1Click on your account icon in the upper-right corner. It likely has an image of you and your name.

2

Next, click on "Account Settings" in the menu that appears.

3On the page that appears, you will see a section titled "Pronouns". Click on the checkbox to the left of "Allow others to see my pronouns" and then select "Use different pronouns".

4Type in your pronouns and click on "Save and Close".

Where are my pronouns visible in D2L?

Pronouns are visible in a few places in D2L. If you are a student, you can see pronouns in the Classlist and when hovering over a user's icon in a Discussion Post. Instructors can see pronouns in two additional places. The first place is when grading the D2L Dropbox. Simply hover over the student's image in the upper-left corner. The second place is from the User Progress page.

Students and Instructors

Classlist: You can view pronouns to the right of the user's name in the Last Name, First Name column, if available.

Note that I have selected "All" to view both the student and the instructor.

Discussion Board: Simply hover over the user's icon in the upper-left of the post. When you do, a card will appear. Below the user's name, you should be able to see the user's pronouns, if available.

Instructors Only

Drobpox: Go to an assignment in a dropbox of your choice. Basically, go to the grade screen for a dropbox. Then hover over the student's icon in the upper-left corner. When you do, a card will appear with the student's name. Below the name, you should see the pronouns preferred by this student.

User Progress:

  1. Go to the class list and click on the dropdown arrow to the right of the student's name and choose "View Progress" in the menu that appears. This page will give you an overview of all activities that the student has done in D2L.
  2. Hover over student's icon in the upper-left. A card should appear. Underneath the student's name, you should see their pronouns.
