D2L: Grade Item and Category Visibility
A student notified you that they cannot see a grade item, or their grade with it, within the Grades area. But you can see it within your gradebook. Why? A common possibility is that this grade item has a visibility restriction attached that prevents students from seeing it. You can see this if you go into Grades → Manage Grades. Note the closed-eye icon next to “Discussion Topic #9”:
To remove this, click the dropdown menu caret next to the item, choose Edit Grade Item, and on the following screen, click/go to the “Restrictions” tab. There, choose “Grade item is always visible,” and then Save and Close.
