WordPress for Faculty
WordPress for Faculty
Canisius College ITS can supply current faculty with a WordPress site for professional use. The faculty member must build and maintain the site, which practically means learning to use the WordPress content management system. Additionally, we offer the premium Divi theme, which is an option toolset for making more elaborate sites.
The Center for Online Learning & Innovation can offer on-campus training, on a consultation basis, for WordPress. However, WordPress users are also advised to consult the WordPress Codex (https://codex.wordpress.org) for day-to-day questions and review.
If a faculty member elects to host their website through Canisius College ITS, they should be aware that:
- ITS will host the site for as long as the faculty member is employed at Canisius College. If the faculty member leaves the college, they must seek a new host for their site.
- The faculty member is solely responsible for transferring content into or out of their Canisius-hosted WordPress site.
- ITS must carry out periodic updates to WordPress, it’s themes, and plugins. Users should occasionally visit their site to make certain everything displays and operates properly.
