Hypothes.is: Use JSTOR for Hypothes.is Assignments

You can use JSTOR Articles directly in Hypothes.is Assignments (Transcript), without the need to download them first.

1Follow the above steps to create a Hypothes.is Assignment.
2In Assignment Content, click on JSTOR. A pop-up will appear asking you to paste a link to the JSTOR article.

3Go to the Canisius Library Website in a new tab and click on Databases. Type in JSTOR in the search bar and hit Enter on your keyboard.

4

A new tab will open up, giving you the result of the search. Click on either JSTOR database link to be taken to their respective search pages, which will open in a new tab.

5

Search for your article.

Note: You may be taken to the Canisius SSO before accessing this page.

6

Click on the title of the resource in JSTOR that you want to use. This will take you to the resource's page. Find the JSTOR Stable URL, found underneath the resource's information in the upper-left, and copy it by clicking on the Stable URL.

7

Go back to the Hypothes.is Assignment Tab tab and paste (CTRL+V or CMD+V) in the JSTOR Stable URL. Hypothes.is may automatically recognize that a URL was pasted in. Or you can click on the arrow to the far right.

When you do, you should see the title of the article with a green checkmark to the left of it. Additionally, the Accept and continue button in the lower-right should no longer be greyed out.

If this is your first time using JSTOR in a Hypothes.is assignment, you may want to read the Terms and Conditions of Use above the Accept and continue button.

Click on the Accept and continue button to go to the next step.

8

The page will update. Here, you can change the Assignment content and/or make it a group assignment using a D2L Group you created previously.

Otherwise, click on Continue in the lower-right.

9

You should now see a preview of the JSTOR article, along with the Hypothes.is sidebar on the right.
