Canisius Lightboard Studio
What is it?
The Lightboard Studio is a one-button recording studio. The Lightboard Studio also includes a transparent Lightboard (think of it as a whiteboard, but see-through). This allows faculty to professionally record lectures for asynchronous or flipped classrooms while looking at the camera.
How does it work?
Using a transparent glass board and neon markers, you can write down important facts, diagrams, equations, etc. You can even “draw” over PowerPoints, webpages, and other documents or images. The Studio also records you automatically. If you would like, you can also record the screen.
How do I use it?
Bring a USB Thumbdrive to OM415! Otherwise, all you have to do is make sure that the system is on, insert the USB, and then hit the record button. The Neon markers and microfiber cloths are available in the Lightboard Studio.
If this is the first time you are using the Studio, make an appointment with COLI staff first. We will show you how to use the Lightboard Studio as well as give you swipe access to the room.
General Etiquette
You MUST reserve the Lightboard studio (below). Otherwise, if a conflict arises, we will need to abide by whomever has reserved the lightboard studio.
Note that each slot is sixty minutes with an additional five minutes of buffer time. Please use your time wisely and be courteous to the next user.
Additionally, note that the Studio can only be reserved at most 30 days in advance.
Do NOT touch the camera or confidence monitors!
Please do use the accompanying switch to raise or lower the Lightboard as needed.
Please clean up after yourself. Wipe down the Lightboard with the microfiber cloths, return the markers to the side table, etc.
Do NOT bring food or drink into the Lightboard Studio.
Please contact COLI staff prior to your first time using the Lightboard Studio. We will show you around the Studio and give you a general tips for recording with the Lightboard Studio.
