D2L Course Retention Policy

D2L Course Retention Policy

Canisius College follows the recommendation of the Association of Registrars to retain gradebooks for a period of 5 years. D2L courses will be deleted after a period of 5 years.

  • If you are a course instructor, please follow the guidelines on the Start/End Course Checklist to save a copy of your course and a copy of your gradebook. This should be done at the end of each semester, for good measure.
  • If you are a student, please make sure you save your uploaded files and any course files you wish to retain.

For both of these purposes, we recommend Google Drive.

To see the official ITS policies on this topic, log into the portal then go to -> Campus Community -> College Policies -> ITS Policies -> Records Retention policy and schedule.
