Antivirus/AntiMalware Software for Personally Owned PCs

Canisius College cannot supply or support security, antivirus or antimalware software for personally-owned computers.  However, ITS and COLI strongly recommend that any PC users install and maintain security software that ensures their Windows or even Mac PC remains safe and free of malware, ransomware, or even troublesome adware.  Both Mac and PC computers usually already have security applications that provide firewalls and basic scanning.  But it's always a good idea to have something more.  There are many security applications and services available; here's just a few suggestions:

Windows PCs

ESET

AVIRA Offers free version. Premium version has additional features.

Malwarebytes AntiMalware . Offers free version. Premium version has additional features.

Sophos Home. Free Version for personal use.

Whichever application you choose, downloading it is not enough.  You should be sure that the application is regularly updated, and occasionally run a scan on your files.
