If you have applied the Java version 8 update 51 to your computer, you will need to make some settings changes for Banner to operate properly.

Step-by-step guide

Follow these steps to correct problems with Banner after installing Java 8 update 51

  1. Go to Start button -> Control panel -> Java -> advanced tab -> scroll to Advance Security Settings.
  2. Uncheck "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format".
  3. Check   "Use TLS 1.0"
  4. UnCheck "Use TLS 1.1"

  5. UnCheck "Use TLS 1.2"

  6. Your Java control panel should look like this now:


     

  7. Close and relaunch your browser.
  8. If you are still having problems with Banner, please call the ITS Help Desk at x8340.
