Overview
The President's Board Room is fully equipped for multimedia presentations. It features a SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard with DLP projector, 50" LCD panel, Windows computer with wireless keyboard and mouse, USB web camera, audio conferencing system, Blu-ray/DVD/VHS combo unit, and connectivity for up to four laptops. The equipment is controlled using the Crestron Touch Panel found at the end of the table closest to the SMART Board.
The instructions below will walk you through the use of the technology now available in the room. If you have any questions or would like to schedule one-on-one training, please contact Bob Grabowski at ext. 3278.
Starting a Session
The equipment is controlled using a Crestron Touch Panel Interface.
If the touch panel's screen is black, touch the screen to wake the display. When the Canisius Logo screen appears, tap the screen to view the Activity Selection screen.
From here you will be able to select the appropriate activity, as well as adjust the room's lighting and window shades. A Helpbutton (in the upper left corner) is available on some screens to provide additional information for that activity.

Starting a Computer Presentation
1. On the Crestron, press the Presentation Start button and then select PC.
2. Turn on the PC and then press Continue. The PC is located in the cabinet to the left of the SMART Board.
3. Indicate if you will be using computer audio by pressing Yes or No on the Crestron.
4. Turn on the wireless keyboard and mouse; the power button for the keyboard is on the upper right corner, while the power button for the mouse is located underneath. The keyboard and mouse are stored in the cabinet to the right of the SMART Board.
5. The image will now appear on the projector and the Presentation Screen will appear on the Crestron. From here you can select between displaying the resident computer or one of four connected laptops.
6. Log in to the computer using your Canisius user name and password or the guest account.
Using the SMART Board Interactive Whiteboard
The SMART Board is connected only for use with the resident computer. Follow the steps above to display the computer on the projector. After logging into the computer, the SMART Board software will load. More information on the use of the SMART Board can be found here.
Starting a Laptop Presentation
VGA cables, VGA cables with attached audio cables, and Ethernet cables are stored in the cabinet to the right of the SMART Board. Three hideaway cable cubbies, located at the either end and in the middle of the table, have ports for connecting your laptop for display on the projector. To access the ports, press down on the top of the hideaway.

1. Plug one end of the VGA cable into your laptop's VGA port and the other end into one of the four VGA ports located around the table. If you are using a Mac laptop or your laptop does not have a VGA port, you will need an adapter. Click here for help on determining the needed laptop display adapter.
2. If you require access to the Internet (and your laptop is not configured to access the college's wireless network), plug one end of an Ethernet cable into your laptop's network port and the other into one of the available Ethernet ports around the table.
3. If you need to play audio from your laptop, select a VGA cable with audio from the cabinet. You will need to plug one end of the audio cable into your laptop's headphone jack and the other into the audio jack that accompanies the VGA port you have selected. Be sure the laptop's volume is not too low or muted.
4. On the Crestron, press the Presentation Start button and then select Laptop.
5. Next, select the port you have connected at on the Crestron.
6. Indicate if you will be using computer audio by pressing Yes or No on the Crestron.
7. Turn on your laptop computer. Electrical outlets are available on the table, if needed.
8. The image should now appear on the projector. If not, click here for assistance with setting your laptop to display on a secondary display.
9. The Presentation screen will appear on the Crestron. From here you can select between displaying the resident computer or one of four connected laptops.
Starting an Audio Conference
1. On the Crestron, press the Audio Conference Start button.
2. The microphones located on the table will light up green (indicating they are on) and the Audio Conference screen will appear on the Crestron.
To Make a Call: Type in the phone number using the keypad and then press DIAL. (Dial "9" and then the number to get an outside line). When finished, press HANG UP.
To Answer a Call: If you are expecting an incoming call and hear the phone ringing, simply press ANSWER to pick up the call. When finished, press HANG UP.
Starting a Web Conference
1. On the Crestron, press the Web Conference Start button.
2. Turn on the PC. It is located in the cabinet to the left of the SMART Board.
3. Turn on the wireless keyboard and mouse; the power button for the keyboard is on the upper right corner, while the power button for the mouse is located underneath. The keyboard and mouse are stored in the cabinet to the right of the SMART Board.
4. The image will now appear on the LCD panel and the projector. The Web Conference screen will appear on the Crestron.
5. Log in to the computer using your Canisius user name and password or the guest account and then launch the appropriate software to connect to your conference. Click here for instructions on using Zoom, the college's current web conferencing solution.

Playing a Blu-ray, DVD, or VHS Tape
1. On the Crestron, press the Blu-ray/DVD/VCR Start button.
2. The image will now appear on the LCD panel and the Blu-ray/DVD/VCR screen will appear on the Crestron.
3. Insert your disc or tape into the Blu-ray/DVD/VCR combo unit. It is located in the cabinet to the left of the SMART Board.
4. Use the buttons on the Crestron for playback and volume control.
Watching Cable Television
1. On the Crestron, press the Cable TV Start button.
2. The image will now appear on the LCD panel and the Cable TV screen will appear on the Crestron.
3. Use the buttons on the Crestron for channel and volume control.
Adjusting the Lights
From the Crestron: Press the Lights button on the Crestron (located on the top of each screen) to display the Lighting Control screen. Select one of the four presets on the left or use the manual controls on the right to adjust the lighting. Press the Backbutton to return to the previous screen.
Wall Panel (Small): There is a four button panel by the door closest to the SMART Board. The top two buttons are for lighting control. Press the top button to turn the lights on and the button below that to turn the lights off.

Wall Panel (Full): There is a full lighting control panel by the door furthest from the SMART Board. The Fluorescent and Accent lights can be turned on or off, while the Down and Table lights are dimmable.

Adjusting the Window Shades
From the Crestron: Press the Shades button on the Crestron (located on the top of each screen) to display the Shades Control screen. Use the arrow buttons to turn the shades to the left or the right. Press the Back button to return to the previous screen.
Wall Panel (Small): There is a four button panel by the door closest to the SMART Board. The bottom two buttons are for window shade control. Press the bottom button to turn the shades right and the button above that to turn the shades left.

Returning to the Activity Selection Screen with the Display Still On
On each activity screen there is a Main Menu button. Pressing this will leave the display (projector or LCD panel) on and return the user to the Activity Selection screen. This allows for the user to start another activity without ending the prior one.
Example: A computer presentation can be displayed on the projector while using the audio conferencing system at the same time.
Ending an Activity
On each activity screen there is an END button. Pressing this will shut off the display used (projector or LCD panel) and return the user to the Activity Selection screen.
If you used the resident computer, the Crestron will remind you to turn it off before shutting off the display. Make sure the computer has been turned off before pressing Yes on the Crestron to confirm ending the activity.
Ending a Session
At the Activity Selection screen, press the SYSTEM OFF button. This will turn off the projector, LCD panel, and the rest of the equipment, except for the computer. That must be turned off separately. Make sure the computer has been turned off before pressing SYSTEM OFF on the Crestron.
Powering Down the Resident PC
1. Open the Start Menu (click on in the lower-left corner).
2. Click the "Shut Down" button.
