Based on the Hypothes.is: Getting Started Video - Transcript

Make sure you have uploaded your PDF to a file sharing website (such as Google Drive, OneDrive, D2L, etc.) or you have the URL link to the webpage or YouTube Video. In the following tutorial, we will use a PDF on Google Drive.

Go to the Content Tab in D2L. In a Module, select Add Existing Activities.

Select Hypothesis Reading in the menu that appears.

In the pop-up that appears, select Google Drive. If you are using a resource from another location, select the appropriate option.

For Google Drive, follow the on-screen instructions to choose and/or link your Google Drive account to http://Hypothes.is .

Search for, upload, or click on the PDF that you want to use.

Then click on the Select button.

Note: This may be hidden from us. We may need to use the scroll bar on the right of the pop-up to view this button.

The pop-up will update, allowing us to change the PDF, give the assignment a name, and/or set the assignment up as a group assignment. 

When done making your changes, click on Continue.

Your http://Hypothes.is activity will automatically be installed in D2L. Click on it to access the activity.

On the left, you will have your assignment. On the right, any and all available annotations.

To annotate, click and drag your cursor on some text. Then, choose Annotate. You may also simply highlight the selection.

When you select annotate, your comment will appear on the right sidebar. You can type in your comment, add pictures, and more using the available text editor. You can also select who can see your comment by selecting the drop down arrow to the right of "Post to...". By default, all comments are public.
