CrashPlan Manual Deployment (Windows and Mac)

Objectives:

  • Download and Install CrashPlan
  • Initialize Automatic Backups

 

Prerequisites:

  • Knowledge of current Canisius username and password
  • Wireless or LAN connection to the internet

  • In your web browser, visit:

 

https://crashplan00.canisius.edu

 
  • Login with you Canisius Username and Password 
  • Once in the Crashplan Portal, select “Crashplan” and your operating system

○      Mac users - select Mac OS

○      PC users - select either Windows 32 or Windows 64

 

Note: PC users can determine their version by right-clicking Computer from the Start Menu, and selecting Properties. Here one can determine the version of Windows.
  • Once selected, CrashPlan will begin to download. Once complete open the .dmg file (Mac) or .exe file (PC) and proceed with the installation. If required, type in your Canisius username and password to authorize your computer to make changes.
  • With CrashPlan installed, open the program and register it with an “Existing Account”

○      Username: Canisius Username

○      Password: Canisius Password

○      Server: crashplan00.canisius.edu:4287

 
  • Once complete, CrashPlan will begin automatically backing up your User folder on your machine. Feel free to adjust the settings as you see fit to adjust the backup schedule or simply sit with the default settings.
