A two-part training series addressing issues of cultural competencies, working with diverse communities, Native American cultural and historical awareness, Trauma-Informed Care, historical traumas, and the relevance to Institutions of higher education
Series Title:
“Working with All Our Relations – A Journey towards Exploration & Understanding Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion from an Indigenous Cultural Perspective”
Series Goal:
To Contribute to the Improvement of the Campus Environment for All Students, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members to be Respected, Appreciated, and Valued
Series Objectives -- Participants will be invited to:
- Explore how various Native, Indigenous cultural models, perspectives, traditional teachings, and concepts can benefit the mutual understanding of diversities of all human beings
- Discuss and process the benefit of understanding Trauma-Informed Care on a community-wide basis and recognizing the residual impacts of historical traumas that impact current interactions
- Be introduced to and work with specific frameworks to enhance the cross-cultural dynamics, relationships, and interactions throughout the campus community
- Engage in productive discussions to embark on a journey towards becoming more welcoming, engaging, and respectful for all peoples
