Students are invited to use the rifle range facilities during open range time only when there is a Range Safety Officer (RSO) present. Everyone that wishes to shoot on the range needs to watch the safety videos below and complete the appropriate paperwork before they will be permitted to shoot. We have open shooting times using small bore .22 cal rifles and .177 cal air rifles. A step-by-step guide to be allowed access is below. There is a $5 range fee to cover costs of ammunition and targets and students can join for the semester if they wish. *NOTE - Due to COVID restrictions, open range time is suspended until further notice. Team and ROTC practices only on the rifle range
What to I need to do to be able to use the range?
Before your first visit to the range, here is what you need to do...
- Everyone is responsible for knowing the safety rules of our range. They are online here as well as posted at the range.
- You should be familiar with the parts of a rifle.
- All new shooters must watch the following three videos. There is a quiz as part of the range safety agreement so don't skip the videos. They are short and to the point.
- Take the online quiz and complete the safety agreement - Click here
- Visit the range during a scheduled open session. You will meet with one of the RSO's and get an initial briefing on the range. The RSO will also familiarize you with our equipment. They will always be on the range when you come, if you have any questions after that, want some advice or pointers, etc... feel free to ask.
