The College discontinued the license for ESET Nod32 antivirus software during Summer 2010. If your personally-owned computer is currently running a version of ESET that was covered by the Canisius license, you may have noticed its icon has turned orange and have probably seen several pop-up notifications. In order to ensure that your personally-owned computer remains well protected, please follow the recommendation provided above as soon as possible. The section is entitled "Antivirus Software for Personally Owned PCs".

However, ITS and COLI strongly recommend that any PC users install and maintain security software that ensures their Windows or even Mac PC remains safe and free of malware, ransomware, or even troublesome adware. Both Mac and PC computers usually already have security applications that provide firewalls and basic scanning. But it's always a good idea to have something more. There are many security applications and services available; here's just a few suggestions:

Whichever application you choose, downloading it is not enough. You should be sure that the application is regularly updated, and occasionally run a scan on your files.
