Equipment Room Features

Powering Up the Equipment
The Projector is controlled from the wall mounted Extron Control Panel Interface, located at the front left side of the room.  Select the Display ON button to turn the projector on. The button will blink red and the controls panel will not respond until the projector is finished warming up.  The PC and DVD/VCR combo unit are located in the equipment cabinet underneath the control panel at the front of the room, and must be powered up separately.  The wireless keyboard for the PC can be turned on by moving the power switch on the back of the unit to the on (Green) position.

Projector Standby
The Projected image can be blacked out using the PIC MUTE button located lower right of the control panel. Pressing this button will place the projector in standby mode. While this mode is active, the button will flash. Simply press the button again to take the projector out of standby mode.

Volume
The audio level is adjusted by using the VOLUME knob.  Turn the knob clockwise to raise the volume, and counterclockwise to lower it.  There is a volume indicator net to the knob to provide a visual cue of the current volume level.

Resident Computer
Press the PC button on the Extron to display the PC on the projector.  USB ports are located on the front of the Dell desktop near the power button.  Remember that the PC and keyboard need to be powered on independently.

Connecting a Laptop
The cables needed for connecting a laptop computer are found under the end of the conference table at the front of the room.

Using the VGA cable
 
1. Plug the VGA cable into your laptop's VGA port.

 

2. Plug the Ethernet cable into your laptop's network jack (if needed).

 

3. Plug the audio cable into your laptop's headphone jack.

 

4. Press the LAPTOP button on the Extron to view the Laptop on the projection screen.
 
5. Turn on your laptop's power.
 
6. If needed, set your laptop to display on a secondary display.
 

DVD Playback (via the DVD/VCR combo unit)

Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the DVD/VCR combo unit and insert your disc into the disc tray. Press the DVD/VCR button on the Extron to display the video from your DVD.  Use the playback controls on either the front of the unit or the remote control to play the DVD.

VHS Playback (via the DVD/VCR combo unit)
Simply insert your tape into the DVD/VCR combo unit and press the DVD/VCR button on the Extron to display video from your DVD.  Use the playback controls on either the front of the unit or the remote control to play the VHS.

Powering Down the Equipment
Press the Display OFF button on the Extron control panel to shutdown the projector.  

The resident computer and DVD/VHS combo unit must be powered off separately. Instructions for shutting down the computer are found below.
Be sure to remove any media from the equipment before shutting it down.
