Microsoft Teams: Set Team Member Permissions

Microsoft Teams: Set Team Member Permissions

In Teams, by default Members (i.e., anyone who is not an owner/did not create the Team) can create channels, add apps, create private channels, and more. We can restrict Members from modifying the Team by following the steps found below:

1

In a Team, click on the three horizontal dots to the far-right of the Team name.

In the menu that appears, click on Manage Team.

2

Click on Settings in the navbar at the top.

3

Click on Member Permissions to see all of the permissions that members of our Team have.

4

To remove a permission, click on the checkbox to the left of a permission. We recommend removing all permissions except for the last two:

  • Give members the option to delete their messages

  • Give members the option to edit their own message
