D2L: Assess a Discussion Topic
D2L provides a streamlined-process for assessing individual students in a discussion topic.
| 1 | In the D2L Discussion tab, click on the dropdown to the right of the topic we would like to grade. Select Assess Topic from the menu that appears. This option will only appear if the Discussion Topic is linked to the D2L Gradebook. |

| 2 | From here, we are sent to the Assessment Dashboard. Click on Topic Score under a student’s name to start grading. |

| 3 | When we do, we should see a somewhat familiar screen. The student’s work is on the left and the overall assessment and feedback is on the right. |

| 4 | In general, we can see all of the Student’s Threads and Replies (replies are denoted by 'Replied in thread “Thread Title”'). Otherwise, we can filter the student’s posts to Threads (i.e., their reply to the Topic) and Replies (i.e., their reply/replies to fellow student’s Thread(s)) by click on Posts in the upper-right. |

| 5 | When we have entered the Grade and provided feedback, we can then click on Publish in the lower-right (1). Optionally, if we need to come back later to finish grading, we can select Save Draft (2). To go to the next student, we can click on the arrow pointing to the right (3) or use either of the arrows in the upper-right (4) or click on Back to Assess Topic (5). |
