D2L: File or Text Submission for Dropboxes
Some faculty may allow students to submit a file or use the available text editor in D2L. In general, the workaround was to set the Dropbox as Text Submission and allow students who wanted to submit a file to copy and paste a Google Drive link. As of Jul 28, 2025, there is now a new option for submission type that allows for either submission from students.

| 1 | Click on Submission & Completion in the Dropbox editor. |
|
| 2 | Click on the dropdown under the Submission Type section. Then, select File or Text Submission. When done editing the Dropbox, make sure to click on Submit in the lower-left corner. |
|
| 3 | When students view the submission options for the Dropbox, they will be presented for options to submit a file as well as an HTML editor for text submissions. Note: Students must click on Submit to save their text submission. If they click on a link to go to a different webpage, a pop-up will appear notifying them that the information they entered may not be saved (second image). |
