Creating an email template in Outlook 2010

Introduction

Have you ever found yourself sending the same message to one or more people repeatedly? If so, this may be a helpful tip. You can create an e-mail template that can be used over and over again. If minor changes are required for an individual you can do that as well.

Creating the Template

In Outlook 2010, go to the home tab and select New E-mail.

Enter a subject that describes the message topic. It will also be used to save the template so make it brief but descriptive. Enter the text that you use repeatedly.

When you finished the message Select File and Save As

.

Chose the Save as type as an Outlook Template. Your template will be saved in an area specifically for templates.

To use the template, you must add the Developer template, to your ribbon. To do this click on File in Outlook 2010, select Customize Ribbon from the navigation pane. In the right pane, under Customize this Ribbon check the option for the Developer Tab. You will now see the Developer tab on your ribbon.

Once you have the Developer tab showing, click on it and choose New Form.
This will spawn a new window which will allow you to choose the form you want. Your form will have been saved in the directory for User Templates in File System.

Select the message template you want, add an address or addresses, and send it out. Once these initial steps are completed, creating forms in the future will be easier and will save you a lot of time if you frequently send the same message out.
