Kivuto Webstore 

Canisius has a partnership with an external vendor called Kivuto which offer work-at-home licenses for faculty, staff and student discounted software. The valued pricing is afforded to us through Canisius' own Microsoft and NERCOMP contracts.

Getting Started with Kivuto

  • Visit the Canisius Kivuto Webstore
  • Buyers need to create a Kivuto accounting using their Canisius email address.  
    • Students should use the following format for their email address: <username@my.canisius.edu>
    • Faculty and Staff should use the following format for their email address: <username@canisius.edu>
  • The account will expire after a year, but can be renewed at anytime by using the following the instructions to reverify your Kivuto account


Purchasing Microsoft Office (and Alternatives)

Download and install Microsoft 365 (Free):

  • Microsoft 365

  • You can access this through the portal underneath My Applications.  Students remember to use "username@canisius.edu" and not username@my.canisius.edu
  • You can also access it going directly to https://www.office.com/
  • You are free to use the software while you attend Canisius. Remember to save your information when you graduate as that you will access to your account.

Utilize the Google Productivity Suite (Free):

  • The College subscribes to an enterprise level Google account for all students including an unlimited Google Drive and access to Google Apps (Doc, Sheets, Presentation, etc).

Download and install LibreOffice (Free):

  • LibreOffice is an open-source productivity suite which includes a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation application.

Student Work at Home (~$40; variable):

  • Thinkedu.com offers a work at home version of Microsoft Office that students can purchase. Students may have to register their Canisius emails to purchase.

  • Canisius does not directly partner with Thinkedu.com, instead the Thinkedu.com offers discounts to students enrolled in higher education institutions.

Purchase directly from Microsoft (variable):

  • Students can purchase a copy of Office Home and Student 20xx (permanent copy) or a subscription of Office 365 directly from Microsoft.
