D2L: Search for a Course
Often times, we are provided course spaces that are not part of our typical load. It can be somewhat tricky to find them. Below, we provide three ways to find course spaces.
Table of Contents
My Courses Widget
We have likely interacted with the My Courses Widget previously, though it typically goes to the current (or at least, most recently accessed) semesters or Course Group.
If needed, we can click on the arrow to the right to start going through other semesters or, if we are provided a Sandbox, to access the Sandbox Semester:
Search for Courses using the My Courses Widget
Using the My Courses widget, we can also search for a particular course by using the All tab.
| 1 | Go to All | Highlighting All tab |
| 2 | Scroll down all the way to the bottom and click on View All Courses (XX+) where XX is the number of course spaces you have access to. | Highlighting the View All Courses button |
| 3 | Conduct your search. Make sure to hit “Enter” or “Return” when you conduct your query, otherwise the search will not run. Typically Term/Semester and Year and the Course Abbreviation, Number, and/or Section code will do. Ex., Fall 2024 DMA201B will bring up that particular course. Advanced Search allows you to search for a particular course, select which role you are enrolled in the course for, the Semester, Department, Course Start/End, and Status of the course (i.e., Active/Inactive). | Highlighting the search |
Use the Select Course Widget
The Select Course Widget is the matrix of squares to the far left of your user icon. This widget is available to you no matter which course you are in. It can be faster than going to the D2L Homepage and selecting the course from there. Using it is similar to the above option, using the All tab in the My Courses widget.
| 1 | Click on the Select Course Widget in the upper-right corner, to the far left of your user icon/profile. | Highlighting the Select Course Widget |
| 2 | Type in your search query and hit “Enter” or “Return” to conduct your search. Optionally, you can click on one of your pinned courses OR, further down the list, your most recently accessed courses. Typically, for searching, Term/Semester and Year and the Course Abbreviation, Number, and/or Section code will do. Ex., Fall 2024 DMA201B will bring up that particular course. | Highlighting search bar |
