Microsoft Teams: Automatically Start a Meeting Recording and Transcription

When we schedule a Teams meeting, we can set it to automatically start recording (which will automatically start transcribing) the meeting for later review. This is useful so we do not have to remember to do it in the meeting.

Teams does not currently have a way to set custom default settings. If we want to automatically record a meeting, we will need to do so for each new meeting. Recurring Meetings share the same meeting settings.

Click on the Calendar event with the Meeting that we want to record.

Click on Edit.

Click on More Options.

Click on either Options or Meeting Options.

Options will keep you in Teams. Meeting Options will open a new tab in your default browser. Both will have the same/similar settings and layout.

Click on Recording & Transcription and toggle Record and transcribe automatically setting. Then click on Apply.

Afterwards, we can go back to the Event/Calendar Invite Settings and close it out.
