Google Drive: Download a File

In Google Drive, it may be useful to download a file. The following can be done with any file on Google Drive, both Google (ex, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms etc.) and non-Google (PDF’s, images, etc.). Note that Google files (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) will be automatically converted to their Microsoft Office counterparts (Docs to Word, Sheets to Excel, and Slides to PowerPoint). If you would like other options (ex, download as PDF), follow Google’s instructions on downloading these items.

1

Click on a File. Click on the Download icon that appears in the toolbar above.

2

Follow the on-screen prompts to download the file. Note that this may take a moment.

Additionally, if you get a pop-up saying that the file was too big and could not be scanned, double-check that the file is from the person you are expecting it to be. If it is, then select Download anyway.
