D2L: Course Notifications
In this tutorial, we show how to manage Course Notifications in D2L. **Note: click on an image to enlarge it
Get Notifications
Turn on Notifications in D2L to quickly get emailed Activity Summaries and/or other notifications.
1 | Click on your User Icon in the upper-right of D2L. |

2 | Select Notifications in the menu that appears. |

3 | There are several types of notifications that we can receive. We can receive a Summary and also “instant” notifications. A. For a Summary of Activity, click on Never and select how often (Daily or Weekly) you want to receive notifications. Then choose just a Time for Daily or a Time and Weekday if you chose Weekly. B. Instant Notifications will alert you nearly instantly when a Grade Item has been released, when new Content has been created, when Dropboxes have been assessed, and more. Just click the checkbox under the Email column to the right of Notification you would like to receive. |

4 | When done making your selection, click on Save in the lower-left. After you do so, you will be taken to the D2L Homepage. |

5 | To turn these notifications off, simply set the Summary of Activity to “Never” and uncheck the anything in the “Instant Notifications” section. |

Create Course Notification Exclusions
You may get notifications from courses even after they have closed. In this case, you can exclude specific courses from your notifications.
1 | Click on your User Icon in the upper-right of D2L. | |
2 | Select Notifications in the menu that appears. | |
3 | Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Notifications page. Click on Mange my course exclusions. |

4 | A. In the pop-up that appears, we can click on “Exclude All Courses” to exclude all courses you are currently enrolled in. B. Alternatively, click on the search bar in the upper-right of the pop-up to search for a course using it’s abbreviation, number, and section (ex., DMA201B). Select the “X” in the bottom-right of it to exclude it from notifications. |

5 | Click on Close in the bottom-left corner. |

6 | Select Save in the lower left corner of the page. |

Reactivate Notifications for Excluded Courses
1 | Click on your user icon in the upper-right of D2L. | |
2 | Select “Notifications” in the menu that appears. | |
3 | Click on Mange my course exclusions at the bottom of the Notifications page. | |
4 | Search for the course to re-activate notifications for in the search bar in the upper-right of the pop-up that appears. Then, click on the circular-arrow icon to the right of the course we want to reactivate notifications on. Alternatively, we can select Restore excluded courses to start receiving notifications from all courses we excluded in the past. |

5 | When done, click on Close in the lower-left. | |
6 | Click Save in the lower-left of the Notifications page. |
