Microsoft Teams: Record and Transcribe a Meeting
In Microsoft Teams, when we start a recording of a meeting, it will also automatically start a transcript of the meeting. This can be useful for reviewing later.
Tip: We do not need to record a meeting if we just want a transcript. Transcripts can be created without recording, but are automatically created if we do record. To just start the Transcript, follow the steps below. On Step two, just select Start transcription rather than Start recording.

| 3 | When we do, a pop-up will appear asking us what the primary language is. The default is English (US). Click on Confirm in the lower-right to continue. | Primary language.

| 4 | Several notifications will appear in the top-center. The first few are just Teams letting us know that it is trying to start the recording. Then, when Teams has started the recording, the final pop-up has a helpful reminder that we should let everyone know we are recording them. This last pop-up does not leave until we click on the X button in the upper-right. If we go to the the Chat, we will see a timestamp of when the recording was started and when it was ended. Additionally, sometimes the Transcript may appear automatically and other times it may not. Click on Settings>Record and transcribe>Show transcript. | Recording and transcription in progress pop-up.

| 5 | To stop the recording, we can either End or Leave the Meeting and the recording will stop automatically. However, if we want to stop the recording mid-meeting, we can go to Settings>Record and transcript>Stop recording. This will stop both the recording |
