Audacity: Quick Overview

As noted, Audacity is a great open-source software for recording and even editing audio. See the image below (click to enlarge) for more information:

Highlights of important parts of Audacity

1. Recording and Playback buttons

2. Audacity Menu

3. Quick features and editing tools, including zoom in/out, trim outside of selection, silence selection, and undo/redo.

4. Audio Setup button where we can control the Playback device, Recording device, and other audio settings

5. Playback and Recording volumes.

   1. Drag the round slider left to make the playback/recording quieter or to the right to make it louder.
