There may be time when you prefer to forward your messages to another account. For example, if you have several e-mail accounts with other schools as adjunct professors may have or as other professors who may teach or do research at other institutions, this is especially helpful. One could have all of their messages sent from all accounts to a single personal account to read and reply.
Before you decide to forward your Canisius College e-mail to another account here are a few things that you should know:
- Messages that are redirected will appear to come from the original sender. When you reply to a message that has been redirected, the reply will be sent to the original sender.
- A copy of all messages that redirect will also remain in your Canisius College inbox unless you create an additional rule to delete it. If you don't do this the easiest way to remove them is to go into your Canisius Account and delete them. This is important because once you've reached your quota, you will no longer be able to receive or forward you Canisius mail.
- Finally, even though you're able to forward your Canisius College e-mail to another account not all services can do this. If you're not sure, contact the IT department in that institution.
If you still wish to forward your Canisius College e-mail here is the procedure:
- You must be log into the Outlook Web Applications to redirect your mail. To do this make sure that you're connected to the internet and open your browser. Enter the following into the address text box: exchange.canisius.edu.
- Enter your Canisius College username and password.
- In the upper right corner click on Options and select See All Rules.
- From the navigation column on the left, select Organize E-Mail.
- Click on New.
- Under When the message arrives select Apply to all messages.
- Under Do the following select Redirect the message to.
- In the To field, enter the e-mail address you want the mail forwarded to.
- Click OK
- Click Save to save your rule and return to the Inbox Rules tab.
